2022 Bills Take First Place in AFC East Division

The 2022 Bills topped the AFC East division, going 13-3 for the year. With one canceled game due to a player injury, the team played one fewer game than all other teams for the season, save for the Bengals. Buffalo finished the regular season with seven straight wins, leading to the playoffs. This Bills team had a great defense and felt that they should be representing the AFC in the Super Bowl. Josh Allen threw 35 touchdowns in 2022 and finished the season with a 96.6 rating. Stefon Diggs had an outstanding season, with 108 catches and eleven touchdowns. Devin Singletary ran for 819 yards and had five touchdowns. In the Wild Card round of the playoffs, the Bills defeated the Miami Dolphins. In the divisional round, they lost to the Bengals.

Bills 2021 Season Recap

The 2021 Buffalo Bills topped their division, going 11-6 before entering the AFC playoffs. The team had all the parts in place to make a deep run, possibly even a trip to Super Bowl 56. In the first round of the playoffs, Buffalo would take on the Kansas City Chiefs. That playoff game will be known for years to come as one of the wildest. The Bills left just enough time on the clock for the Chiefs to tie the game and force it into overtime. From there, the Bills came up short.

Bills fans will look to see if Emmanuel Sanders will return in 2022. The Bills signed a new deal with Isaiah McKenzie and released Daryl Williams. Mitchell Trubisky has moved to the Steelers. Mitch Morse has a new contract with the Bills, and Jon Feliciano was released. Cole Beasley looks to move on to another team before the 2022 season starts. Josh Allen can’t wait to start 2022 and he looks forward to going deep into the playoffs.

Bills Football Organization was Founded 54 Years Ago

The Bills were one of the many teams founded in 1960 when the AFL opened for business. Throughout their history, the Bills have called two buildings home. First, they played at War Memorial Stadium from 1960 to 1972. In 1973 they moved into Ralph Wilson Stadium which is their home to this day. The Bills have made the playoffs 17 times, won their division 10 times, and of course had the stretch where they won the AFC four years in a row from 1990-1993 and lost all four Super Bowls, two to the Giants and two to the Cowboys.

Rex Ryan’s First Season as Head Coach

Currently, the Bills are coached by the eccentric Rex Ryan. After a very loud and fun five-year run as head coach of the Jets, the “other” New York team fired Ryan. His unemployment didn't last long, as he was hired by the Bills just days later. The Bills surprised many people in Ryan's first season as head coach, finishing 8-8. Tyrod Taylor enjoyed a fine season as well after spending his first five seasons as a backup quarterback for the Ravens. Taylor threw for over 3,000 yards and 20 touchdowns. He also ran for 568 yards and four touchdowns.

2016 Bills Draft Picks

In the draft, the Bills beefed up Rex Ryan's defense. With their first-round draft choice, they selected Shaq Lawson, who is a pass rusher, and pass-rushing is the backbone of the Rex Ryan scheme. In round two, they got their inside linebacker, Reggie Ragland. In round three they picked up a very good defensive tackle from Ohio State named Adolphus Washington. Many people are expecting the Bills to take a step forward this season, and possibly end the longest playoff drought currently going on in American professional sports.

”Average.” That is the word that can be used to describe the Buffalo Bills for the past 20 years. Once again, they were average in 2016, finishing the season with a record of 7-9, good for third place in the AFC East. The Bills had a very strange 2017 off-season. They finally ended the “Tyrod Taylor saga” back in March when they signed him to a two-year, 30 million-dollar contract. The Bills sat Taylor for the last game of the season so they could avoid paying him a major bonus in his contract for reaching a certain amount of stats.

The Bills had just six draft choices. They used the first one on Tre'Davious White, a cornerback from LSU. They used the first of two of their second-round draft choices on Zay Jones, a wide receiver from East Carolina, and the second of two second-round draft choices on Dion Dawkins, an offensive lineman from Temple.

In round five they picked up Matt Milano, an outside linebacker from Boston College. In round six, they selected quarterback Nathan Peterman from Pittsburgh, and in round seven they drafted Tanner Vallejo, an outside linebacker from Boise State. The strangest thing they did though was right after the draft they fired general manager Doug Whaley. Why at that point of the offseason nobody knows, but they replaced him with Brandon Beane. Nobody knows exactly what the Bills are doing right now, but if the team wants to move ahead, there needs to be stronger leadership.

The Buffalo Bills entered 2018 with a new franchise quarterback in place Josh Allen from Wyoming and reasonable expectations. However, Allen spent much of 2018 dealing with injuries, and the Bills finished the season 6-10. So, what did they do this offseason to add around their young quarterback?

The best way to keep a quarterback from getting injured is to improve the offensive line. That is why the Bills added a quartet of offensive linemen in free agency- Spencer Long, Mitch Morse, Ty Nsekhe, and Jon Feliciano. They also added tight end Tyler Croft, running back Frank Gore, wide receiver Cole Beasley, wide receiver Andre Roberts, cornerback E.J. Gaines, and tight end Jake Fisher. Later on in free agency, they added running back T.J. Yeldon and linebacker Eli Harold.

For the draft, their top priority was boosting the interior of the defensive line, so they added defensive tackle Ed Oliver from Houston. In round two they got a steal when they added offensive guard Cody Ford from Oklahoma. The Bills could have an entirely new starting offensive line in week one. In round three they added depth to their skill positions on offense with running back Devin Singletary from Florida Atlantic and Tight End Dawson Knox from Mississippi. They finished out their draft with outside linebacker Vosean Joseph from Florida, safety Jaquan Johnson from Miami, outside linebacker Darryl Johnson Jr. from North Carolina A&T, and tight end Tommy Sweeney from Boston College. After years of “Circling The Wagons,” the Bills might finally be heading in the right direction, as long as they can keep Josh Allen healthy.
