Rugers Season by Season In Review

The 2025 Scarlet Knights finished their season with an overall record of 5-7. That meant the team was out of contention for a bowl game. The team defeated non-conference teams before going up against Iowa on September 19. Iowa defeated Rutgers 38-28. The team would go on to lose its first four conference games before beating Purdue. The team would win just one more Big Ten game before losing to Ohio State and Penn State. 

In 2023 and 2024, the team has posted winning records. The team made it to the Rate Bowl, against Kansas State. The team lost that game 44-41. In 2023, the team made it to the Pinstripe Bowl, where they won 31-24. 

Before the last two seasons, the team had not put together a winning season in at least four years. In 2019, the team went 2-10 and lost all its conference games. Their best season in the modern era came in 2006. The team went 11-2 and won the Texas Bowl against Kansas State.
