Citizens Bank Park History

On April 3, 2004, Citizens Bank Park first opened for baseball. 42,901 fans can fit into the ballpark on game day. At a cost of $458 million, this stadium replaced the old Veterans Stadium. With three levels of seating and a small number of bleacher seats on the roof of the outfield pavilion, your choices of seating are vast. After one season of baseball, the left-field wall was moved five feet back to reduce the number of home runs. Still, this ballpark is considered to be a hitter's venue. Four years after its opening, the team played their first World Series game.  

In 2025, Citizens Bank Park will play host to the World Series. From the Home Run Derby to the All-Star Game, it's all happening in Philadelphia.
