Ford Field Home of the Detroit Lions and Michigan Panthers

The Detroit Lions call Ford Field their home stadium. The Michigan Panthers also play their UFL games at the venue. Annually, the GameAbove Sports Bowl and MHSAA state football championship games are held there. On August 7 & 8, Chris Brown will headline the "Breezy Bowl XX" show at Ford Field.

Ford Field History

Opening in 2002, the new venue replaced the Pontiac Silverdome.  It took nearly three years for the venue to go from groundbreaking to opening day. For football games, the capacity was set for 65,000. For other events, the venue can hold up to 80,000 people. In 2006, Super Bowl XL was held at Ford Field. Other notable events that have occurred at Ford Field include the MAC Football Championship Game, the Quick Lane Bowl, Big Ten Conference action, and the Frozen Four.

In 2017, Ford Field saw many updates. The total spent was just over $100 million, updating video boards, luxury suites, restaurants, and the venue's sound system.
