Daikin Park History

Daikin Park is the Houston Astros home stadium. This is the third name for the same ballpark, and it first opened in 2000, with a current seating capacity of 41,168. The ballpark is in the heart of downtown Houston but still manages to have 25,000 parking spaces nearby. This venue is a replacement for the Astrodome. Construction started in late 1997 and took nearly three years to complete. 

Daikin Park is also a great venue for live music. Performers such as Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney, Ed Sheeran, Madonna, and Jimmy Buffett have all played at Minute Maid Park. Since heat can be a factor during the summer months, the retractable roof is closed for most of the Astros season.
