Ryan Field opened in 1926 and was named Dyche Stadium. That name stuck with the venue until 1997, when it was named Ryan Field in honor of Pat Ryan, the chairman of Northwestern's board of trustees. The stadium was updated fifty years after it first opened. That stadium was demolished in 2023, and the grand opening of the new stadium is slated for 2026. The new Ryan field will cost 850 million. The stadium will be nearly 80% larger in the area of club and plaza spaces.
