Tropacana Field History

The first pitch at Tropicana Field came on March 3, 1990. At a cost of 130 million, the venue was one of the smallest in MLB. The venue capacity varies. With the upper deck under a tarp, just over 25,000 fans can fill the stadium. With all available seating open, the capacity is closer to 42,000. In 2025, Tropicana Field was damaged by Hurricane Milton. The franchise spent over fifty million dollars just to prepare the venue for repairs and upgrades. Fans expect to return to the venue for Opening Day 2026.
