The UW-Milwaukee Panthers are part of the Horizon League, with a rich history of great NCAA basketball to its name. Since 1990, the Panthers have been competing at the NCAA Division One level, after many seasons bouncing between Division three and two.
Playing at their UW-Milwaukee Panther arena, the team has found success in the Horizon League. They were conference champions four times since 2004. Bruce Pearl coached the team to the NCAA playoffs several times before moving on in 2005. Rob Jeter coached the team throughout their great run in the league. Bart Lundy is the current head coach, having come on board in 2022. He replaces Pat Baldwin who coached the team to a 57-92 overall record. LaVall Jordan lasted just one season, going 11-24.
In 2024, the Panthers finished the season with a 21-11 overall record. Robert Morris was the only team with a better record for the season. The team played very well at home, going 13-3. In conference play, they finished at 14-6. This great record earned the team an invitation to the Horizon League tournament. In their first game of the tournament, they lost to Oakland 72-64.
